3D Generalist
Prisms of Reality is a San Francisco-based team of educators, game developers, and engineers transforming K12 STEM education through experiential real-world problem-solving. We utilize adaptive Virtual Reality (VR) to engage, inspire, and open pathways to creative problem-solving through Math. Our mission is to break down barriers to access and build STEM proficiencies at scale for all students, worldwide.
We are rapidly expanding our team to fast-track the impact of our student-facing VR content libraries and educator-facing data tools to make VR a mainstay in the K-12 classroom.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Prisms is looking for a 3D Generalist with Unity experience to support in designing and creating 3D environments, props, simple animations, and general assets, in a fast-paced, research and development environment. A commitment to collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated design, and a quality product is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with a team of content designers and developers to design rich and attractive immersive environments and interactive props in a fast and iterative manner.
Demonstrate the generalist ability to problem-solve multiple facets of a 3D-for-real-time pipeline for numerous projects with tight deadlines. Day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to: modeling and texturing environments & prop assets, Unity transform-based animations, scene lighting, creating basic shaders using node-based shader authoring tools, and diagnosing and optimizing 3D assets.
Design and adhere to standards and specifications consistent with project vision and brand aesthetics.
Be a proactive member of the development team and report task status and potential issues to ensure the quality of the product meets the brand standards and expectations in all aspects.
Have strong verbal and written communication skills to promptly collaborate with the broader team.
Create and maintain documentation and guidelines relating to Art development.
REQUIREMENTS
Solid knowledge with major DCC programs like Maya, Blender, Houdini, ZBrush, etc.
Solid knowledge with Texture and Material Authoring tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Substance Painter & Designer, etc.
Solid understanding of compositions, color theories, and other industry standard best art practices.
Proficiency of importing and updating art assets in Unity
Knowledge of 3D asset optimization for mobile devices
Knowledge of Node-based shader authoring tools like Shadergraph, Amplify Shader Editor, etc.
Ability to create simple transform-based animations within Unity
Experience of Source control (Git preferred)
Ability to maintain clean, organized and non-destructive workflow
Receptive to the iterative design process with a willingness to participate in many areas of VR development beyond art responsibilities.
Highly motivated and skilled at both working individually and collaborating with a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Virtual Reality Experience
Knowledge of Particle Systems
Knowledge of Joint-based Rigging /Animation
Knowledge of Body & Facial Mocap Animation retargeting
3D Simulation/Motion Graphic Experience (Houdini, Cinema 4D, Maya MASH, etc.)
PORTFOLIO
Showcase wide range of artistic styles for environments and props, including at least one realistic style project
Have a breakdown of project that demonstrates your Unity scene-building ability
Ability to take an art test if requested.
