The Job

Educational Motion Designer

Job Description

Prisms is looking for an experienced animator with expertise in creating 2D educational animation videos for high school STEM content. This role requires a deep understanding of abstract math concepts and a strong ability to translate and communicate them through motion graphics and visual storytelling. Knowledge of the Manim Python library for creating math videos is highly desirable. A commitment to collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated design, and a quality product are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging and visually appealing animated videos covering STEM concepts for high school students, with a focus on Math, Biology, and Chemistry
  • Create complex and precise explanations of abstract mathematical concepts using animation
  • Utilize Manim Python library for creating effective math videos, if possible
  • Collaborate with the educational content team to ensure accurate and effective representation of the subject matter
  • Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of traditional motion graphics for educational content
  • Respond to guidance, feedback, and review from the rest of the development team
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliver high-quality work on schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Animation, Visual Communications, Computer Science, Education, or a related field
  • Proficiency in at least of the following 2D animation software: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate
  • Knowledge of the Manim Python library for creating math videos, or a strong willingness to learn \Not required but highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of abstract math concepts and the ability to communicate them visually
  • Experience creating educational animations within the STEM fields, particularly for high school students
  • Highly motivated and skilled at both working individually and collaborating with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience in 3D Motion Graphic Animation
  • Background in teaching or tutoring high school STEM subjects
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python
  • Proficiency in Unity, Toon Boom Harmony

Portfolio

  • Showcases 2D educational animations in the STEM fields, particularly focusing on Math
  • Demonstrates experience with the Manim Python library, if possible
  • Highlights visual storytelling and effective communication of abstract concepts
